Tour Itinerary
6 days / 5 nights – July & August only
Day One – Thousand Islands Winery & Alexandria Bay
Welcome to the Thousand Islands! Here, Ontario and the United States meet, their cultures blending in the waters of the mighty St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario. The native peoples called this region the “Garden of the Great Spirit,” and today, many still remark that this beautiful garden of woods and waters, known as the 1000 Islands, is one of the most stunning places on Earth. This afternoon, enjoy a tasting at the Thousand Islands Winery. Experience the charming atmosphere of the winery, housed in the original 1923 Sears & Roebuck barn. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will share insights about the award-winning wines, the history of the property, and amusing anecdotes from yesteryear to today. Later, we’ll check into your Resort, located directly on the Saint Lawrence River, for a relaxing two-night stay. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening.
Included Meals: Dinner
Day Two – Two-Nation Cruise & Boldt Castle
This morning, after breakfast, embark on a scenic 2 ¼-hour tour through the breathtaking Thousand Islands! This 22-mile journey through the international waters of the U.S. and Canada offers the best view of this unique area, shared by two nations—and no passport is required! Along the way, enjoy historic and scenic wonders in both the American and Canadian sections of the 1000 Islands. Learn about the colorful history of the magnificent homes built during the Gilded Age, hear biographical stories about their owners, and see landmarks like Devils Oven, Sunken Rock Lighthouse, the Canadian Span of the 1000 Islands Bridge, and Tom Thumb Island. You’ll also hear about key events that took place during the War of 1812. During the cruise, enjoy a boxed lunch. Afterwards, arrive at Heart Island for a self-guided tour of Boldt Castle, built by George Boldt as the ultimate gift of love for his wife, Louise. Tragically, in January 1904, George sent a telegram to halt construction after Louise’s sudden death, and he never returned to the island again. Take a short ferry ride back to the mainland, then return to our resort to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Dine at one of the many fine restaurants in Alexandria Bay this evening.
