Day One - Welcome to Washington DC

Welcome to our Nation’s Capital - Washington DC and arrive to our area hotel for the next four evenings. Upon arrival, we’ll receive a warm greeting from our local guide. Take some time to relax and freshen up before enjoying dinner together.

Day Two - Washington DC Touring & Illumination Tour

This morning, meet our guide and depart for a full day tour of our Nations Capital. Some of the highlights include views of the White House, U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Embassy Row, Supreme Court, the National Cathedral and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Enjoy lunch on own at the Old Post Office Pavilion. This afternoon, we’ll visit the new National World War II Memorial honoring the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S., the more than 400,000 who died, and all who supported the war effort from home. Symbolic of the defining event of the 20th Century, the memorial is a monument to the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the American people. Enjoy a savory dinner at one of the city’s fine restaurants followed by an evening of sightseeing featuring our national’s most beloved memorials and monuments dramatically illuminated upon the Washington landscape. Highlights include the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Korean and Vietnam Veterans Memorials.

Day Three - Arlington National Cemetery & Smithsonian

This morning, depart for Arlington National Cemetery and hop aboard the Tour Mobile for a tour around the Cemetery. View the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame marking John F Kennedy’s Grave and visit the Iwo Jima Memorial which is one of the largest bronze statues ever cast. This memorial which depicts the flag being raised on Mount Suribachi during WW II is dedicated to all marines who have served our country since 1775. This afternoon, spend some free time along the National mall to visit the Smithsonian Museums. Tonight, enjoy dinner at one of DC’s fine restaurants.

Day Four - Potomac Cruise & Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens

This morning, depart for old town Alexandria for a scenic 50 minute cruise up the Potomac River to Mount Vernon; home of President George Washington. Meet our private docent and spend time exploring the grounds and touring the home and buildings of Mount Vernon. Following our tour, enjoy a planned luncheon at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant with all its colonial charm, colonial servers, and delicious regional and colonial cuisine. This afternoon, return to our hotel to freshen up before enjoying a delicious grand finale dinner together.

Day Five - Depart for home

Following breakfast, we’ll begin our journey home taking with us memories of our Nation’s Capital.
